Launch an ACH in 2023

Apply Now for CACHI’s $400,000 Funding Opportunity to Advance Community Health and Equity in 25 Communities

The California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative (CACHI) was launched in 2016 as a public-private partnership that has supported 13 Accountable Communities for Health (ACH) through grants, technical assistance, policy, learning and evaluation. ACHs are multi-sector collaboratives designed to improve community health and equity by aligning and coordinating activities and advancing systems changes.

The success of CACHI was acknowledged in the California budget for 2022-23 with a $15 million allocation to continue and expand ACHs in California. In partnership with the California Department of Public Health, The California Endowment, and others, CACHI will establish up to 25 new ACHs throughout the state; community grantees will receive $400K over 2.5 years starting July 2023. This effort will:

  • Support the establishment of new ACH collaboratives, which prioritize the role of community voice and equity in health system transformation, in areas of the state that experience significant health inequities;

  • Continue to demonstrate the value of ACHs in building cross-sector partnerships to advance community priorities;

  • Support ACHs to engage in a state-sponsored reform initiative that require cross sector partnerships and greater engagement with communities. These initiatives will greatly benefit from the unique attributes and skills of an ACH and ACHs can play a helpful role in facilitating their success.
